Student Leadership

The College Captains play an important role in representing the College and its values. They are the face of the Macleod College Student Leadership Team, as well as being ambassadors for the College. The College Captains demonstrate the College values, and lead by example. They are responsible, reliable, committed and honest. They are able to inspire others, and have confidence with the respect of students, teachers and the wider school community. The College Captains work as part of the Student Leadership Team, and focus on student voice and agency.

The International Captain represents the international student body at Macleod College. They are involved in a variety of leadership opportunities to lead, engage, encourage and support international students at Macleod College. They work closely with the International Student Coordinator on initiatives concerning international students. Some of these include student engagement and participation in college events and activities, health and wellbeing, celebrations, transition, and issues concerning international students. The International Captains also engage with the entire college community to continue the harmonious relationship between all students. Although they represent and lead the international student body, they are active participants in all aspects of the College.

The Performing Arts Captains work closely with the Performing Arts Director and the Music Academy Leader. They lead and engage with students of the Music Academy during rehearsals, performances and competitions. The Performing Arts Captains also engage in college events and activities from a musical/performative perspective. They inspire students to strive for excellence not only in their musical endeavours, but in all aspects of their educational journey.

To be eligible for the position of Performing Arts Captain, applicants are undertaking a VCE Units 3 & 4 Performing Arts subject in 2025. This includes VSV Performing Arts subjects.

The Sports Captains play a key role in increasing student engagement and participation in all sporting events and carnivals throughout the year. They work closely with the Sport Coordinator and assist sport coaches and teams with try-outs, training, inter-school sports and finals. The Sports Captains also work closely with the House Captains, and are involved in assisting with events such as the Swimming and Athletics Carnivals. They organise and plan sport tournaments or house events throughout Terms 2 and 3. They are also involved in other leadership opportunities such as fundraising initiatives and college events. The Sports Captains aim to continue to engage and inspire students to lead an active and balanced lifestyle.

The House Captains play a key role in boosting student engagement and participation in college house activities for the annual House Cup. Their aim is to create positive experiences through diverse activities and events, fostering a sense of connection and belonging within the school community. They assist with events such as the Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, and various house tournaments and challenges. Additionally, they take part in leadership opportunities like fundraising initiatives. The House Captains strive to inspire students to challenge themselves to get involved, and try new things.

The Student Representative Council (SRC) is an organisation comprising members from each year level who represent the students of Macleod College. They focus on amplifying student voice and agency, addressing issues that affect the student body and the wider college community. The SRC members feel deeply connected to the college and are entrusted with real responsibilities, from solving problems to making decisions that affect the student body. They show respect and care for one another and the college as a whole.
