Middle School
07 - 09
The focus of the Middle Years of schooling (Years 07-09) at Macleod is on individualising the program to accommodate student interests, Learning needs and abilities, while still providing the necessary rigour to prepare them for their later years of schooling.
There are 3 dedicated learning areas, each recently built or renovated, to accommodate the particular needs of students at these levels. They are each staffed by a dedicated team who are always on hand for help or advice whenever needed.
Years 7 - 9
Students at this level have a recently renovated wing of the school primarily for their use. The spaces are open, flexible and are also very well resourced (in terms of ICT), with digital projectors in every room.
Apart from the core subjects, students enjoy a range of Art/Technology courses, along with German as our study language. During Literacy Support classes Years 5-8 move to same ability groups for more individualised help. Years 7 and 9 also share Literature Circles where groups are matched with a novel for discussion and response purposes. Students host special culminating performances for the school community on areas of personal interest which are very popular with all concerned.
