P-6 Curriculum
Preps
The transition program plays a vital role in the preparation of new preps for school. Three orientation sessions are conducted in term 4 familiarising and encouraging participation of kinder children with literacy, PMP, numeracy, meeting their buddies and school readiness. Parents are encouraged to stay for morning tea and the school nurse delivers a presentation on ‘Beginning School’ at the first visit. An information evening about the College is held for all new parents in term 4.
Sport
Our grade 5/6 students participate in District Interschool Sports which include cricket, rounders, bat tennis, soft ball, football, soccer and netball. Students from grade 3 onwards compete in District Track and Field Athletics and Cross Country. Our sport program also includes a College House Athletics day and specialist PE classes. A Swimming program for Grades 2, 3 and 4 is held in term 4.
Leadership
X age tutoring builds positive relationships and promotes the P-12 aspect of our College. A vibrant SRC and Leadership structure develops strong organisational and leadership skills.
Communication
Developing the home/school partnership is one of our priorities. Our friendly, approachable and professional staff develop positive relationships with students and parents and use effective means of communication to support and strengthen this partnership. Active parent involvement is encouraged and welcomed in classroom programs and College activities.
Music
Learning an instrument is encouraged through our instrumental program. Students have the opportunity to be in the choir, play an instrument, be in a band/ensemble and to enjoy specialist music classes beginning at prep.
Camps
Our students begin with gradual experiences such as the Year 2 sleepover and continue the camping program with a bi annual camp at Years 3 and 4 and an annual camp at years 5 and 6. Our program fosters independence, resilience and leadership.
