Learning Mentor Program
- Every student in Years 7-10 has a Learning Mentor teacher.
- Mentor teachers spend a period a week in a class either team teaching or withdrawing students to help them establish goals, help with time management, and check completion of work etc.
- Students receive a report from their mentor on their personal learning strengths and areas for improvement.
- This program is an effective response to the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) requirement to report to parents on individual learning goals and learning styles.
- For example, a Year 8 student told his mentor he was unsure about fractions. She was able to set some tangible learning goals, speak to his maths teacher and support him to learn fractions.
